Instant Lawn Pietermaritzburg

Instant Lane (Buffalo, Berea, Royal Blue, Kikuyu)

Buffalo Instant Lawn – Buffalo grass is a good choice for lawn care because of its hardiness, low maintenance, and drought tolerance. It is also well regarded for erosion control.

Berea Instant Lawn – Berea grass is ideal for shady or semi-shaded gardens where you don’t want to put any shade cloths or umbrellas. It can also be used in full sunlight gardens, however, because of its shallow root system, it may need to be watered less often than other types of grasses.

Royal Blue Instant Lawn – Royal blue requires full sunlight, but it also requires more water than other varieties. Royal Blue is ideal for small areas that need a soft, smooth appearance. It has a light feel and a deep hue of dark green.

Kikuyu Instant Lawn – Kikuyu grass is a warm season grass that can tolerate heat and drought. In addition, Kikuyu grass is fast growing and adapts easily to new environments. It also tolerates shade and poor soil conditions. Therefore, it is perfect for landscaping projects where you do not have much time to wait before your project gets completed. You can plant Kikuyu grass anywhere including parks, gardens, roadsides, and parking lots. Kikuyu grass is very easy to maintain because it does not require fertilizers or pesticides. It is also resistant to diseases and pests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answer: Artificial grass comes with a big upfront cost — R70 to R310 per square metre, installed. Once it’s down, it’s free for the next 8 to 15 years. Professionally laid natural grass, on the other hand, costs only R40 to R60 per square metre.
Answer: Preparation. When preparing your area for instant lawn, you should make sure that the area has adequate drainage and that there are no weeds present. To remove existing weeds, you should spray an appropriate herbicide at the manufacturer’s recommended rate. Wait 2 weeks and apply again if necessary.
If you have an existing lawn this needs to be removed first. We do not recommend laying turf on existing grass, as this will prevent the new turf from rooting well. It’s also possible for weeds to come through the new turf.
For best results, we would recommend that turf needs to be laid onto good quality, prepared topsoil at least 15cm (6 inches) deep. If the topsoil in your garden is either too shallow or is poor quality, it is wise to bring in more soil before you lay turf.
Can you seed over dead sod or grass? Yes, you can. This process is sometimes called “overseeding” and is a common practice. You can seed over dead grass or sod as-is or use a variety of tips and techniques to ensure that you get the results you want with less time and expense.
